    We are excited to announce that RCI's Food and Nutrition class will once again be opening up a canteen this year!  For those of you that are new to the school, this is a student-run course that runs from 11:30 - 12:20 and makes meals as well as snacks for students in the school.  Students will be able to order meals and buy snacks on even days throughout the year.
    Please read the points below to get a fell for how things will be working:

  • The canteen will be open on EVEN days of the school cycle (2,4,6) for students to buy food!  A meal special will be offered every class (example: wraps and veggies, spaghetti and meat sauce, salad, soup and biscuit, etc.)

  • We will be opening Monday Sept 23 for SNACKS/DRINKS only.  We will be making meals starting on October 3 (see October Menu).

  • Snacks (cookies, cereal cakes, muffins, etc.), drinks and meals will be available daily for varying prices (Snacks: $0.50 - $1.50, Drinks: $1-$2.00, Meals: $6.00)
    Students MUST SIGN UP in advance at the office to order a meal before 11:30, but do not need to sign up in advance for snacks and drinks.

  • Note: there will be a maximum of 25-60 meal specials available each day depending on how popular that meal item has been in the past.  If students are counting on the daily meal special, they need to be sure to sign up as early as possible.  First to sign up are guaranteed the meal.  They can sign up in the morning before classes start or during breaks between classes.

  • If students ordered a meal, or would like a snack/drink, they can line up at the cafeteria at 12:30 when the lunch bell rings.  The canteen will not be open all lunch hour, so students must line up immediately to get their orders.
    Monthly menus will be posted around the school as well as posted on the school website.

  • Students can pay for their meals at the counter with cash, or prepay and have a card with their name on it loaded with any dollar amount for future purchases.  If students are paying at the counter, only cash will be accepted.  If parents or students would like to prepay a certain amount, they can give the office cash, cheques or e-transfer any amount over $20.00 (see e-transfer steps below).  Payment using School Cash Online is also available.

  • If your student finished the last school year with money loaded on their canteen accounts their money will still be available this year to use.  Please note we do not refund money loaded onto prepaid canteen cards.

  • Note: NO IOUs will be accepted.  All meals, snacks and drinks must be prepaid or paid for in person by the student.

  • We expect the first few days of the canteen to be quite busy with many students not having prepaid cards set up.  We encourage students and parents to start paying the office this week (cash, cheque, e-transfer, School Cash Online) to load money on their cards so that students can get their orders in a timely manner.
